Minecraft is full of enchanted books, blocks, weapons, potions, and many other items; therefore, it is hard to have a grasp on every element of the game such as the Curse of Vanishing.

The Java-Edition and the Bedrock-Edition are available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac, and Windows covering all the platforms.

The Bedrock-Edition also has the Curse of Vanishing as a Treasure enchantment and it can not be obtained from the enchanting table.

Mostly the new players of Minecraft are not familiar with this Curse as it is not a safe enchantment in the terms of use.

And gamers may have got this enchantment by mistake and are not sure how to use it or how to remove it and what to do with it.

You can download all the versions of the Java-Edition for Xbox One by going here.

What is the Curse of Vanishing?

The Curse of Vanishing enchantment is one of a unique curse Enchantment Book in Minecraft, which, as the name suggests, is a cursed book.

This vanishing curse enchantment book can be obtained in the game by looting chests, fishing or trading with villagers.

It is one of the two Curse enchantments, the other one being the Curse of Binding.

The Curse of Binding is another enchantment which can be equipped with fishing or trading. And the curse of binding can only be removed upon death in the game.

The Curse of Vanishing empowers you to curse an item in the Minecraft game, as when the Curse is enchanted on an item, then the cursed item can be used for the item to be vanishing in Minecraft when a player dies in the game instead of the item dropping after the player dies.

Curse-of-Vanishing

This enchantment is of maximum Level 1, which implies that it can only be enchanted on an item with a max level of Curse of Vanishing 1 only, and nothing higher.

This is the same case with the Curse of Binding.

What does Curse of Vanishing Do?

Any item or weapon enchanted with Curse of Vanishing enchantment is going to vanish or disappear after a player dies in the game.

And the cursed item is terminated forever as it is difficult to recover it.

You can use this enchantment to trick your friends by applying this Curse onto their tools, which in turn is going to vanish their tools after they die.

Moreover, mapmakers can use this Curse of Vanishing curse to make the adventure maps harder for the players.

But it is advised to avoid this Curse entirely and make sure not to enchant anything with it.

How to Get the Curse of Vanishing?

Curse-of-Vanishing

It is not that difficult to get the Curse of Vanishing enchantment via trading.

Set up Lectern in a Village and few Bookcases, and a villager from Library is going to transact the Curse of Vanishing from you.

But it may take you some time to find it from looting crates or by fishing.

You can also browse through the dungeons and temples for chests in the Minecraft game world and hunt for the Enchanted Book.

How to Remove the Curse of Vanishing?

There is a way to remove the Vanishing enchantment from your items or weapons.

To do that, you should have the same cursed item or weapon on which you have used the enchantment and cursed it.

For example, if you have a Cursed Trident, then you also must have another same Trident, which is not enchanted with the Curse of Vanishing

To remove the Curse from items, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Crafting Table first, to remove the Curse from your items.
  2. After opening the Crafting Enchantment Table, insert both items, one cursed and another without any enchantments. (For example, a Trident)
  3. Then, we have to merge both items, which is going to repair both items as well as remove the Curse of Vanishing.

Commonly, Grindstone is used to remove all the enchantments from items or tools; however, it does not work on items enchanted with the Curse of Vanishing curse.
